15 Ways I’m Trying to Become a Better Person

My life is under constant construction. Thereโ€™s always something to improve. Becoming a better version of myself one day at a time!  I just wanted to share with you guys some of the things Iโ€™m personally working on now for myself..

  1. Practicing forgiveness daily.
  2. Working on letting go of anger from past hurts that Iโ€™m still trying to heal from.
  3. Trying to be more consistent in how often I read my Bible.
  4. Committing myself to growth.
  5. Continuously walking away from any and everything that doesnโ€™t give me good vibes.
  6. Reading more books.
  7. TRYING to keep procrastination to a minimum. (The struggle is real with this one!)
  8. Keeping my peace protected. 
  9. Constantly looking for the good in EVERY situation instead of focusing in on the negative part of it. Yes, Iโ€™m very encouraging but sometimes I discouraged too.
  10. Trying to get and stay better organized!
  11.  Working on being more merciful to others.
  12. Working on my patience! It gets a workout quite often.
  13. Working on persistence.
  14. Trying to keep in the back of my mind that not everything needs a reaction nor does it always need a response. This is something that I have to remind myself of everyday because people will try to do things and push your buttons out of spite. Sometimes itโ€™s hard but itโ€™s a beautiful thing to stay silent when someone expects you to be enraged. The power is always in your reply!
  15. Just trying to be a better human than I was yesterday and the day before that.

What are you doing to become a better person? Are you doing anything at all? If not, I will tell you this.. Personal Growth is ADDICTIVE. You should spend time doing that. Itโ€™ll make you feel better as person and to be honest, I feel like itโ€™s also an act of self-care. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.

  1. Hey, these are great goals. I’m trying to work on my discipline which is going well and also improve my use of self-care. I’m slowly getting back into a morning yoga routine which is great (must stick with it though), and I also want to be more engaged with my spiritual beliefs again – I was so good at this recently but then I started blogging and I’ve completely neglected my rituals and study!

  2. Good Lord Jessica, this was absolutely amazing and I THANK you for this! I am going to be totally honest about this. A lot of this list, I try to do every day. Something I need to try improving and that is letting go of anger from the past. I really do hate to say this, but somethings that occur are unforgivable, like abuse both physical and sexual. The only things I am able to do with this type of situation is, walk away and never engage with these people and or the abuse that occurred. I hope this doesn’t make me a horrible person!

    1. Of course that doesnโ€™t make you a horrible person !! But if itโ€™s still affecting you tremendously then itโ€™s best that you seek help โค๏ธ some people are so ashamed of doing that because they think it shows weakness but itโ€™s really strength!
