20 Lessons I’ve Learned on MY Health & Fitness Journey!

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle actually teaches you a lot of life lessons! Here are some that I’ve learned so far along the way that I wanted to share with you guys:

  1. Not everyone has the same goals.
  2. What works for everyone else may not work for you and vice versa.
  3. It’s best to RUN AT YOUR OWN PACE. Unless you have a personal trainer pushing you, don’t worry about trying to keep up with the next person. Focus on running at the pace that’s actually going to help you in that moment!
  4. Never compare your fitness journey to someone else’s.
  5. In the beginning, eating healthy is HARD! Whoever said it was easy.. told a lie! haha.
  6. The more you train your body to eat healthier foods, the more you’ll eventually start to crave it.
  7. Health and Fitness IMPROVES Mental Health.
  8. There are absolutely no shortcuts on this journey! What you put in it, is exactly what you will get out of it.
  9. If you’re gonna have a “cheat day” then it’s important to be faithful to just that ONE cheat day each week because if you cheat more than that then you cheat yourself and defeat the entire purpose of your journey.
  10. You really do feel good when you eat good!
  11. The new boost of energy that you gain from living a healthier life is amazing!
  12. C O N S I S T E N C Y is an absolute must!
  13. Working Out helps you gain so much confidence.
  14. Personally, being on this health & fitness journey has taught me to embrace my flaws .. the parts of my body I hated the most, I’ve learned to love them and work towards doing the necessary to fix them to MY satisfaction!
  15. Health and Fitness teaches you to respect your body more.
  16. Being healthy and fit isn’t necessarily a trend. It’s a lifestyle.
  17. It’s NEVER too early or too late to work towards being a healthier you!
  18. If nothing else teaches you patience, this journey most definitely will! In two weeks, you’ll feel it. In four weeks, you’ll see it. In eight weeks, you’ll hear it. It’s just something that takes time! Definitely doesn’t happen overnight.
  19. Your health is an investment, not an expense.
  20. Health and Fitness is one thing that helps you to become a BETTER version of yourself on so many different levels!

I feel like I’ve learned so much and I’m excited about the fact that I just keep learning more!! I love this new lifestyle!! Thanks for stopping by to read and show me love!!

  1. Cheat day is a must.
My gym trainer always advised to take a day off from the workout. Rest is as important as the workout.
Coming to the running part, my pace was pretty good; for the first few days, I ran then it became jogging the jogging slowly turned into walking and now I don’t go out at all.πŸ˜…
    Great post btw.

    1. Lol I agree.. I gotta have at least ONE cheat day! It’s like motivation in the weirdest way! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I also agree that rest is very important too! Thanks so much for reading and commenting πŸ’•

    1. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I feel you on that !!
I’ve actually gone running with a friend of mine and sometimes even my Husband & I called myself trying to keep up with them in my running speed (they run slower than me) but it really wasn’t doing ME any good! So that was one of the moments I learned that it’s really best for me to run at my own pace in order to actually achieve the personal goal that I’m trying to reach.

  2. This is a great post! I do love a good cheat day! My partner has to stop me having more than one cheat day because I will just cave and eat loads of chocolate lol! Xx

    1. I agree girl !! πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½ thank you so much !! I’m still in my 20s so I’m still learning lol! So many valuable lessons!! Thanks for reading and commenting !!

  3. 100% Cheat day is needed! We all deserve a treat and I, for one, have denied myself of that for years!

Wonderful post full of motivation and inspiration!

  4. Thanks for the motivation, Jess, after a few “cheat years” (not just days) I am regretting it and going to get back on track!! Keep up the great posts!!

    1. Lol don’t feel bad, my cheating years after entering motherhood have caught up with me too! Starting messing with my health so I knew I had to get it together! Get back on track though !! I’m rooting for you !! ❀️

  5. This post was really helpful, I want to start my fitness journey but want to figure out a plan first. I think. I will work best at my own pace as I know my limits. Your post has given me the motivation to get started with my journey, I’ll be making a plan this week! πŸ’—

    1. Awhh YAY !!! πŸ’• You can do it girl! You just gotta find what literally works best for YOU and the best way to do that is by determining what your fitness goals are first. Like my main goals are to get rid of my mommy pouch, lift my booty some & tone the rest of my little muscles lol and I started eating healthier because due to some health issues that started messing with me. So really it just depends on exactly what you’re wanting to do with your body! πŸ’• thanks so much for reading and commenting !!

      1. Thank you so much for the motivation you are such a lovely girl! 😊 I know you’ll smash your goals πŸ’— I’m hoping to tone up my body all around so just need to work out the best things for that and then I’ll be away! Xx

  6. These are some great reminders. I remember when I first starting my healthy eating / fitness journey I would be disappointed if I wasn’t at the same pace as everyone else. Now I realise we all work differently and that’s OK.
A cheat day is so important! I think a lot of us forget to treat ourselves once in a while and it doesn’t have to be a good treat either.

    1. I totally AGREE!! Depending on what your own personal goals are is what should determine what your goals are. Thanks so much for reading, commenting and always being in my corner to give positive feedback!
