Often times, people in the Health & Fitness Business always talk about how important it is to eat healthy or they’re forever throwing out ideas of what healthy foods you can eat but the one thing they rarely ever do is tell you HOW to stay motivated to eat those healthy foods!!
Eating healthy is NOT easy, especially in the beginning. It’s one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done in my entire life! To eat healthy and stay consistent in doing so is a bit of a struggle. You’d think the hardest part is getting started but it’s the “consistency” that people have the most trouble with!
So today, I decided to share some of the things I do to keep me motivated on my own journey of eating healthier foods on daily basis in hopes that it will help you!
START WITH HEALTHY SNACKS
When you live a busy lifestyle, snacks can be useful when hunger hits and you don’t have time to prepare a meal. However, many snack foods available today are high in carbs and sugars, which can leave you feeling unsatisfied and craving more food. So this is what works best for me since I’m a HUGE SNACKER – I’ve replaced majority of my unhealthy snacks with healthier ones!! I literally pack my work bag full of random healthy stuff like fruits, nuts, cheese and sometimes crackers. (even though crackers aren’t technically healthy, they’re better than consuming six Debbie Cakes in one eight hour shift! haha)
LEFTOVERS ON LUNCH
To cook something the night before and eat it the next day for lunch is not only another good way to encourage a healthy meal midday but it’s also a great way to SAVE MONEY!
If you’re like me and surrounded by vending machines throughout the day full of different snacks and sodas, get in the habit of not keeping cash on you in order to avoid such easy access to those machines 🙂
I have a love/hate relationship with water. Like I KNOW I need to drink it yet and still I’d rather have pink lemonade, sprite or a slush of some sort. There are some people who can drink water ALL DAY LONG… However, I’m not one of those people so I’ve committed to something different! I drink water throughout the entire day except for dinner. Dinner is cheat time for my drinks only.
There’s gonna be moments where the temptation is definitely stronger than any strategy you have. Those are the moments where you have to really get your mental together! Remember WHY you started this journey and what purpose it’s supposed to serve. If you know in your heart it’s something you really want to do then you gotta set your mind to it! No ifs, ands or buts about it.
Remember friends, your health isn’t an expense; it’s an investment!! Thanks so much for stopping by to read!
