#BeautyMarks: 4 Reasons to Embrace Your Stretch Marks!!

I’ve NEVER had stretch marks a day in my life until after I gave birth to my two lovely children. I thought that after a while or at least a year at the very latest, the stretch marks would kind of go away just a little bit when my stomach went back down but here I am .. 7 years later with the exact same stretch marks and still visible as ever!!

Over the years, I’ve tried a few different methods to get rid of them. Cocoa Butter was the main thing I resorted to but it didn’t work either and the reason why is because I was forgetful and inconsistent about putting it on every single day. For some odd reason, I even thought that after I’d started my Health & Fitness Journey and stayed consistent with it .. I’d lose my mommy pouch AND the stretch marks but you know what? I was wrong about that too!

I’m starting to believe that my stretch marks are here to stay and that’s OKAY! I’m finally at a place where I’m able to just accept and embrace what I now call “beauty marks”! That’s right .. BEAUTY MARKS!!

IF you have stretch marks, they’re really not something you should be ashamed about. Even if you’re like me, on a Health & Fitness Journey yet and still they won’t go away no matter how good you eat or how much you workout! Let me give you a new perspective and show you how you can mentally embrace them:

  1. For any woman who has ever been pregnant – The natural changes that a woman’s body goes though during pregnancy should be celebrated!!
  2. Every time I look at my stretch marks, I think about my babies and I thank God for even blessing me with the opportunity to give birth! Not everyone is able to do that, therefore, I’m not gonna complain about my battle scars in the delivery room.
  3. Don’t let other people’s “beauty standards” destroy the confidence of what your beauty standards should be for yourself. Be your own kind of beautiful not matter what that means. Forget what everyone else thinks!
  4. Gaining weight isn’t anything to be ashamed about and honestly, if you gain weight, don’t like it and decide to lose it by working out and eating healthier but the stretch marks are still there …. be okay with that! Everytime you look in the mirror, let those marks be a reminder to you of how STRONG you really are!!

No matter how or where your stretch marks came from, no matter how big or small they are, they tell a special story about you. Always remember that. You are beautiful. You are STRONG!! Find the power in embracing your stretchies babes !! XOXO!!

      1. My mom had 5 kids and she wasn’t ashamed of hers so I just figured it was going to happen. Although I cried when I first got them during pregnancy, the circumstances of his birth: 2 months preemie and a 31 day stay in NICU; how could I not appreciate evidence of my son and the fact that I grew him within my own body?!

  2. I am exactly the same as you!! I never had stretch marks until I had my daughter and it used to bother me greatly, especially towards the end of my pregnant. I have now learnt to love and accept myself for who I am. Your post is so inspiring and your beautiful!!
