When The Market is Oversaturated ..

You’d be surprised of how many people are talented, gifted and anointed by God to see the success of reaching and achieving their dreams.. yet they settle to be fast food workers, servers, waitresses, factories, low paying healthcare jobs, grocery stores, housekeeping or clerical work and I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with any of those professions! I’ve actually worked at every single one listed.

There are some people who dream of managing places like that. They love a 9-5, especially if it’s Monday-Friday with every weekend off and that’s cool! I’m not knocking that! However, that’s NOT the case for everybody. Some people actually hate their jobs and will tell you quickly that they are only there to make ends meet at home or do what they gotta do until they can get to where they’re trying to go!

I am also aware that not everyone can afford to immediately invest into their dreams and chase them. For the longest time, that was my biggest issue. I had to learn how to invest a little at a time. There’s several reasons why people just don’t go after the life they really want but here’s the one I keep constantly hearing lately:

“Yeah, I’m really good at doing this or that but it’s so many other people doing it now that there’s really no point in me pursing it anymore.”

Let me tell you something, I don’t care how oversaturated the market is, if God called you to it, then there’s room for you too!! Don’t let the success of other people intimidate you just because they’re on a similar journey. What you have to remember is that even though you may be operating with similar gifts, the difference is the particular assignment God has YOU on!

Can I say something else? Don’t be discouraged by what’s not lining up. It’s not over. Behind the scenes, things are happening that you can’t see. Don’t let circumstances make you forget what God promised you! Everything you’ve walked through has strategically placed you in the right place at the right time before the right people to catapult you into destiny! So with that being said, quitting isn’t a option. Keep moving forward into all God has for you.

There IS greatness in you and when you start truly believing that about yourself and putting some real action behind it.. things will start to change!! You do NOT have to settle for a life you know deep down you really don’t want. Develop success from your failures. Invest a little at a time. Learn from your mistakes. Get around people who actually inspire you! Oh and always remember :

“Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to Him!”

  1. Great post, and so true. I worked up through my early 70’s in the most interesting and fulfilling careers and I don’t regret any of it. I quit when I decided to enroll at 73 in an online university for a degree in Criminal Justice. I got that degree at 74 in October after having cancer surgery in May that year, so never say never. If you want it, you can achieve it. Yes, it isn’t going to fall into your lap, but you can sell yourself if you really desire to do it.

My last career was as a paraeducator/teacher (uncertified substitute) for special needs children and young people for some 15+ years and I absolutely loved that. I wanted to be a substitute and not certified because certified teachers have to spend a lot of their time in meetings and writing reports on their own performance, and I wanted to focus on the children. I did a great job and worked every single day that I wanted to work. So think about different things, and one way to learn about a job you think you might want to do but don’t really know too well is to volunteer someplace, even a couple of hours a week. The great thing is that it looks great on your resume and also gives you a real look at what that kind of work is like. I have been hired or nearly hired at places where I have volunteered and had truly interesting jobs like the hearing specialist for newborns at a major hospital. So don’t think volunteer jobs are always low level and boring. Far from it. You can put yourself in the work you really want to do when you let an organization know what you desire to do. There are few agencies that will turn you down. Although I did not get paid as a volunteer, I got a free lunch in the doctors’ cafeteria which offered full meals with salads and deserts and drinks for very little. I would eat my salad for lunch and wrap the rest and take it home for dinner, and I got free medical care too when I was too young for Social Security and Medicare.

Today going on 78, I am still doing volunteer work that is both fun and educational for me, attending another online course – this one in a multitude of studies but from England and a correspondence course. I like to keep myself busy and always learning something new, so I am very happy. On the side, I have written books, and I am a professional artist in fiber arts and mixed media. Life is full and you can make it so.

By the way, neither of my parents ever finished high school, so I had a tough time in high school, plus we went overseas when my Dad was in the Army, so it set my brother and me back quite a bit, but hey, I ended up in a university in the 70’s and on my own got a degree in Archaeology (yes, worked for a time in the field) while I worked part-time.

So if you want it, go for it. What do you have to lose?

        1. I’m so glad it was a blessing to you! God gets all the Glory πŸ™ŒπŸ½β€οΈ I hope you have an amazing day!! Thanks so much for reading and commenting !!
